Solar Water Heater
A solar hot water system uses the sun’s energy to heat water. When there isn’t enough sunshine to fully heat the water, a gas or electric booster will kick in as a back-up. Solar hot water systems only heat water and don’t generate electricity.
Process and Technology Status. Solar heating collect the sun’s thermal energy and trans- fer it into a heat transfer fluid. If the heat transfer fluid is water can be directly used or piped to a storage tank.
